Country Roads RV Center Campground Review: Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge Pigeon Forge!

At Country Roads RV Center, we feel getting you and your family out there is only half the job. We also like to recommend great places to call your own “There!” This month, with summer and the peak RV season winding down, we checked in with our roving camping correspondent to see where he took his family for their latest adventure. Let’s take a closer look at Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge and the surrounding area!

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is about 3½-4 hours outside the Charlotte metro area, so it’s a pretty good drive. The destination, Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge, owes its name and island swagger to music legend and self-proclaimed pirate Jimmy Buffett and consists of both an RV park and a hotel to offer the best of both worlds to road warriors and more stationary types. Featuring breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains and a plethora of amenities and features, this dual-purpose lodging makes it a great place for RVers and campers to meet up with folks who define “roughing it” as staying in an off-brand motel for reunions, business functions, and generally getting your “license to chill” stamped!

Access to the RV park is very easy. Just check in at the booth, locate your spot, and back up to your site! The RV Park doesn’t feature pull-through campsites, but the amenities more than compensate for that, including:

  • Full hookups including WiFi, cable, and 30/50-amp electric
  • In-site fire rings
  • In-site picnic tables
  • Luxurious bathhouse
  • Well-equipped camp store
  • Easy access to the Lodge and Fins Bar
  • Laundry facilities
  • Dog park
  • Resort pool
  • Private playground
  • Arcade
  • And more!

If the Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge is a Parrothead paradise, the surrounding area more than holds its own. Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge is just minutes away from all kinds of great entertainment, dining, music, nightlife, and family-friendly fun and activities! Just a few of the more notable offerings in the area include:

Gatlinburg

Just 8 miles southeast of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg combines the best of small-town charm and downhome Southern hospitality with a big-city attitude, including an arts and music scene to which even the most renowned entertainment venues in the nation tip their hats! From mountain climbing just outside of town to the skylift and live performances from some of country music’s biggest names, to up-and-coming talents you won’t see anywhere else (yet!), Gatlinburg is a unique town that offers a little something for everyone. Take the trolley around to see the sights and plan your family’s day out, or just wander around until something catches your eye. There’s plenty to see and do—and people in Gatlinburg are some of the friendliest around, with no chips on shoulders or frowns on faces to be found!

Dollywood

If you’re in the Pigeon Forge area, your trip won’t be complete without a visit to Dollywood, the theme park owned by the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton! This 150-acre amusement park and entertainment complex includes a water park, roller coasters, several resorts, and an almost infinite number of ways for the whole family to have fun, from the littlest tykes to the more seasoned members of your group. You might even catch a live performance by Dolly herself and experience interesting artifacts, memorabilia, stories, and facts from The Book Lady’s fascinating life and journey to become one of music’s most universally respected and adored icons. Parrot Mountain and Gardens

If you want something a little more exotic, Parrot Mountain and Gardens is the place for you! This four-acre sanctuary for tropical birds, plants, and trees takes a good two to three hours to walk through as you and your family learn about the impact of tourism on avian lifeforms and how Parrot Mountain and Gardens is working to keep these beautiful and majestic creatures safe and secure for future generations to appreciate. You can even adopt a parrot to join your family! To learn more, click the header above!

After a long day on the mountains, on the road, on the streets, or on the rides, back at the Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge, there’s plenty to do and ample options for ways to unwind and relax. Be sure to hit Fins and fuel up at the bountiful breakfast buffet before you start your day’s adventures or head for home. Our correspondent rated Camp Margaritaville Resort & RV Lodge an A+ family adventure all on its own, and the surrounding area only made it even better. He said the only complaint he had was the weather, and we all know who controls that!
